This is a photograph of a basket woven by students at MSAB. The basket has the shape of a circle on the bottom. It rises from the bottom, curving slightly outwards, still maintaining a circular shape. It is open at the top, having no cover. The top layer has a layer of braided wood splints. The wood has been smoothed out, and the crevices of the braids are barely noticeable except when following the path with a finger. The body of the basket, between the base and the top layer, is made of single layers of wood splints about a foot long. The layers create a ripple effect that is noticed when one runs their hand from the top of the basket to the bottom. The basket is rigid, not easily bent or pulled apart. The interior of the base is flat and soft, in contrast to the smooth wood splints used for the outer structure.
